Amman, Dec. 4 (Petra) -- The Jordanian Nursing Council on Thursday cautioned the public against advertisements promoting unlicensed nursing courses, warning that such programs fall outside officially accredited academic pathways and mislead individuals seeking entry into the profession.
In a statement, the Council stressed that these advertisements violate regulations governing the nursing profession and do not grant any legal or professional status to participants. It urged prospective students to verify accreditation before enrolling in any training program.
Secretary-General of the Council, Dr. Hani Al-Nawafleh, emphasized that only the official academic track and proper licensing from the relevant authorities qualify individuals to practice nursing. Short courses or unaccredited programs, he said, do not provide professional competency and cannot be recognized.
Al-Nawafleh noted that the Council is closely monitoring any activity or advertisement that may compromise the integrity of the profession, student rights, or patient safety. He described protecting nursing standards as a national responsibility that requires full adherence to approved regulations.
The Council warned that the spread of unlicensed programs could introduce unqualified individuals into healthcare settings, placing service quality and patient safety at risk. It underscored that regulating health education remains a critical safeguard for the community.
The statement also highlighted the importance of preserving the reputation of Jordanian nursing by preventing any unauthorized pathways into the profession.
Al-Nawafleh praised the Jordan Nurses and Midwives Council for issuing its recent statement on the matter, aimed at aligning educational programs with national legislation and preventing the public from being misled by unrecognized qualifications.
He stressed that entry into the nursing profession must remain strictly tied to accredited channels to ensure patient safety, maintain educational standards, and uphold the rights of practitioners and the public alike.
The Council concluded by warning that any entity promoting unaccredited titles or programs will face legal consequences.
