Amman, Jan. 24 (Petra) - Parliamentary blocs have expressed strong appreciation for the royal directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to develop a comprehensive strategy and roadmap for the structural transformation of the Jordanian Armed Forces the Arab Army. The blocs said the directives reflect a forward-looking vision based on a precise understanding of national security requirements and the challenges of the coming period.

The blocs described the royal message as a pivotal step in modernizing the Arab Army, laying the groundwork for a new phase of long-term strategic planning focused on enhancing readiness, efficiency, and flexibility while keeping pace with rapid technological and military developments. They noted that this approach reinforces the armed forces as a key pillar for safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty, stability, and security.

The Azm Party bloc, in a statement, said the directives demonstrate His Majesty’s continuous commitment to strengthening the Arab Army’s readiness and developing its capabilities to meet evolving threats, particularly amid accelerating technological and military transformations across regional and global operational environments.

The bloc highlighted that the message to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff initiates a new era of military professionalism, emphasizing agile and advanced forces, modernized command, control, and communications systems, and the integration of artificial intelligence and unmanned systems, thereby enhancing operational efficiency, readiness, and strategic deterrence.

It also noted that prioritizing cyber defense and offensive capabilities, along with reinforcing research, development, and national defense industries through the restructuring of the Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB), forms a cornerstone for achieving defense self-reliance and building a comprehensive, adaptable national security framework.

The bloc praised the directives concerning the restructuring of logistics support systems, activation of reserve forces, and strengthening of operational integration between the armed forces and security agencies, stressing that these measures enhance operational planning and sustain defense capabilities across scenarios.

The bloc affirmed its full national support for the royal directives, emphasizing backing for all measures that strengthen and modernize the Arab Army, described as the nation’s safeguard and a fundamental pillar in protecting Jordan’s sovereignty and stability.

Meanwhile, the Parliamentary bloc of the Initiative Party thanked His Majesty for his directives, highlighting that the vision ensures the armed forces can confront current and future threats, maintain operational efficiency, and uphold the values of sacrifice and dedication in defense of the homeland.

The Union of Centrist and National Islamic Parties described the directives as a qualitative shift in Jordan’s security and military thinking, establishing a long-term strategic planning approach instead of partial or temporary measures. It emphasized that the royal message provides precise diagnostics of challenges and offers a practical framework for rebuilding military strength with flexibility, integration, and qualitative superiority, in line with the evolving nature of modern conflicts, including cyber, technological, and cognitive domains.

The bloc underscored the inclusion of cyber capabilities, unmanned systems, and artificial intelligence as priorities, positioning Jordan to proactively adapt to complex threats rather than relying on conventional responses. It also highlighted the strategic and economic significance of strengthening national defense industries and localizing defense technology knowledge.

The National Charter Party Bloc noted that the King’s directives carry profound strategic dimensions, sending a message domestically and internationally that Jordan is a strong, institutionalized state. It stressed that the military restructuring aligns with professional, institutional approaches, enhancing operational efficiency and readiness, while reassuring that Jordan is fully capable of protecting its security and national interests.

The bloc concluded that the directives reflect the armed forces’ role as a central pillar of the state and underscore the King’s visionary foresight, positioning Jordan as a foundational force in the region and a message of peace to the world.
