Amman, Dec. 9 (Petra) – Data from the draft budget law, currently under discussion in the Lower House of Parliament, shows a notable rise in monthly salary allocations for employees and retirees in the civil, military, and security sectors, reaching approximately JD6.835 billion in 2026.

According to the budget figures, these allocations constitute around 60 percent of total estimated current expenditures, which stand at JD11.456 billion, an exceptional increase compared to previous years.

The data also indicates that salary allocations for employees and retirees in the civil, military, and security sectors have increased by JD274 million in 2026 compared to 2025, reflecting the government's continued commitment to enhancing salaries within the general budget.

Finance Minister Abdelhakim Shibli said salary allocations for employees and retirees across these sectors have recorded a steady rise over the past five years, beginning in 2022.

He detailed that civil and military pension allocations will reach JD1.82 million in 2026, compared to JD1.745 million in 2025, while in 2022 they amounted to around JD1.605 million, representing an annual increase ranging between JD22 million and JD65 million.

The JD274 million increase in salary allocations is significant, representing a growth rate of 4.3 percent, exceeding the inflation rate of less than 2 percent. This rise is considered a major driver of demand in the local market, as total salaries for civil and military employees and retirees inject nearly JD570 million of liquidity monthly into the economy, supporting purchasing power, boosting consumer demand, and stimulating production and economic activity.
