PDTRA Launches Workshop to Shift to Accrual Accounting

Petra, Feb. 2 (Petra) - Deputy Chairman of the Board of Commissioners and Commissioner for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) Shaker Al Adwan, on Monday inaugurated a specialized training workshop aimed at preparing the authority to transition from the cash basis to the accrual basis of accounting, as part of efforts to develop financial management, enhance governance, and improve financial planning efficiency.

Al Adwan said the shift to accrual accounting represents a qualitative transformation in financial management, contributing to greater transparency and accountability, improving the quality of financial data, and supporting decision-making. He noted that the transition is in line with the authority’s direction to adopt a modern electronic system for enterprise resource management.

For his part, Director of Financial Resources at PDTRA, Omar Khleifat, said the project would help improve resource management and enhance financial efficiency. He explained that a specialized working team had been formed to study the financial, technical, and legislative aspects of the project and to ensure a systematic and smooth transition.

The workshop was attended by 22 employees from several relevant directorates, as part of PDTRA's efforts to build institutional capacity and enhance the competencies of financial and accounting staff.
