Petra, June 18 (Petra)-- The Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), in cooperation with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), hosted a delegation of ambassadors accredited to Jordan as part of a field visit to Petra and Wadi Rum aimed at highlighting the tourism, heritage, and investment assets of the Kingdom’s Golden Triangle region.

The delegation began its visit in Petra with a tour of the Petra Visitor Center, followed by an on-site visit to the archaeological city via the main trail. During the tour, ambassadors were introduced to the historical and cultural significance of the Rose-Red City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

A working session was later held at Old Village Hotel & Resort Petra, where officials presented key development and tourism projects being implemented by PDTRA, as well as ongoing efforts to enhance the visitor experience, upgrade tourism infrastructure, and create investment opportunities that support the local economy and promote sustainable development.

Chairperson of the PDTRA Board of Commissioners, Adnan Suwaeir, said that hosting ambassadors in Petra and Wadi Rum reflects the global standing of the two destinations as iconic tourism landmarks that represent Jordan on the international stage.

He noted that the visit provides an important opportunity to showcase achievements in tourism product development, cultural heritage preservation, and sustainability initiatives.

Suwaeir added that PDTRA is implementing a comprehensive vision aimed at improving tourism services, enriching the visitor experience, and strengthening partnerships with local and international stakeholders. These efforts, he said, are intended to attract more visitors and investments while generating economic and development opportunities for local communities.

He emphasized that Petra continues to reinforce its position as a world-class destination that combines a rich historical legacy with promising development opportunities.

The delegation also participated in the "Petra by Night" experience, one of the city’s most prominent tourism products, offering visitors a unique cultural and heritage-based experience.

The visit will continue in Wadi Rum over the next two days and includes tours of the visitor center, the gateway site, the Disi Women’s Association, and several notable natural and archaeological attractions. The program also features visits to local development projects, community and handicraft initiatives, and the Arabian Oryx Reserve.

The visit comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen international relations and promote Jordan as a safe global tourism destination, while showcasing the exceptional qualities of Petra and Wadi Rum, where rich human heritage meets unique natural landscapes. Officials hope the initiative will help attract additional visitors and investments to the region.
