"Pink October" Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign Launched

Maan, Oct. 21 (Petra) The Jordan Breast Cancer Program (JBCP), one of the initiatives of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, organized on Tuesday an awareness and community event in cooperation with Al-Hussein Bin Talal University and the All Jordan Youth Commission – Maan, as part of the "Pink October" campaign.
The activities, held under the theme "You Are the Foundation Get Checked," aimed to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. The event took place at the university’s Deanship of Student Affairs Theatre.
The event was held under the patronage of Maan Governor Khaled Hajjaj, in the presence of University President Atef Kharabsheh, Queen Rania Al Abdullah Hospital Director Dr. Mousa Al-Shalabi, and representatives of government institutions and university students.
Hajjaj emphasized the importance of promoting health awareness, particularly regarding diseases that can be prevented through early screening and public education, noting that such events help instill a preventive culture among women and encourage them to undergo regular checkups.
He shared his personal experience with illness, explaining that he overcame his ordeal thanks to maintaining a positive mindset and avoiding stress and anxiety, in addition to the dedicated efforts of healthcare workers in the Kingdom.
For her part, Bana Al Dabbas, JBCP Director of Communication and Social Marketing, said the program continues to implement a series of awareness campaigns and initiatives across Jordan in cooperation with its partners, aiming to promote self-examination and early detection practices while providing psychological and moral support to survivors and their families.
The event featured an educational video presentation on the importance of early detection, a musical performance by kindergarten students from Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, a storytelling segment by a cancer survivor, and the distribution of brochures detailing the steps for self-examination and regular screening.
