Amman, Jan. 4 (Petra) - Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan on Sunday mourned, with deep sorrow, one of Jordan’s prominent statesmen, former prime minister Ali Abu Al-Ragheb, who passed away earlier in the day after a life dedicated to serving the nation and its Hashemite leadership across various senior positions.

The prime minister expressed his condolences and sympathy over Abu Al-Ragheb’s passing, saying Jordan has lost one of its loyal figures who served the country with sincerity and dedication over several decades.

The late Abu Al-Ragheb served as prime minister and minister of defence between 2000 and 2003. He also held several ministerial posts, including minister of industry and trade and minister of supply in 1991, minister of energy and mineral resources from 1991 to 1993, and minister of industry and trade from 1995 to 1997. He was a member of both the Senate and the Lower House of Representatives, served as head of the Contractors Association, and chaired the committee tasked with establishing the Aqaba Special Economic Zone.

Prime Minister Hassan extended his deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and his relatives.

The late Abu Al-Ragheb was born in Amman in 1946 and was awarded the Order of the Star of Jordan, First Class, and the Order of the Renaissance, First Class.
