Amman, July 28 (Petra) -- The Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Tuesday stated the outcome of an investigation into a social media video in which a man alleged he had been assaulted by officers from the Anti-Narcotics Department during a search operation.
The PSD spokesperson said the police prosecutor had concluded the investigation after reviewing body-worn camera footage that documented the incident from its outset.
The investigation also included testimony from three civilian witnesses, all of whom were neighbors of the complainant and present during the search. According to the spokesperson, both the camera footage and the witnesses' statements confirmed that the man was not subjected to beating, assault or any other form of misconduct during the operation.
The spokesperson added that the man was referred to a forensic medical examiner for evaluation. The forensic report concluded that the visible injuries on his body were similar in appearance and length, were sustained at the same time, and were consistent with having been self-inflicted or deliberately inflicted by another person.
The police prosecutor concluded, based on the available evidence, witness testimony and forensic findings, that the assault allegation was false and had been fabricated. The investigation into the complainant remains ongoing.
