Amman, July 20 (Petra) -- The strategic partnership between the Arab Potash Company (APC) and the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) to develop joint industrial projects represents an investment initiative that will support Jordan’s mining and industrial sectors, according to Khaled Al-Fanatseh, president of the General Trade Union of Workers in Mines, Mining, and Cement and head of the General Federation of Jordan Trade Unions.

The partnership includes the development of a joint industrial complex in Aqaba and Shidiya and the establishment of the Jordanian Advanced Company for Specialized Fertilizer Industries, Al-Fanatseh said in a statement issued Monday.

He added that the project will provide new job opportunities for local communities, contribute to economic and social development, support national industries, increase exports, and enhance the competitiveness of the mining sector, which is one of the key contributors to the national economy.

Al-Fanatseh said the project reflects the Royal vision and the objectives of the Economic Modernization Vision by increasing the added value of Jordan’s natural resources and strengthening integration between extractive and manufacturing industries, supporting Jordan’s role in mining and chemical industries.

He praised the efforts of the two companies’ managements in reaching the partnership, saying it reflects a focus on utilizing national resources, developing specialized industries, and supporting the sustainability of the sector.

He added that the initiative serves national interests by supporting industrial development and creating opportunities for future generations.
