Prime Minister Hassan chairs high-level committee for 2030 Baptism Site celebrations

- PM ordered executive committees for the 2030 event to operate under Prime Ministry oversight with regular progress reports.

- PM demanded timely completion of Baptism Site projects to overhaul infrastructure and elevate visitor services.

- PM highlighted global outreach and a proposed traveling museum to partner with churches and travel agencies worldwide.

Amman, Sept. 17 (Petra) - Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Thursday stressed the importance of preparing for the 2030 bimillennial celebration of the baptism of Jesus Christ.

Leading the High-Level National Committee meeting for the 2030 celebrations, Hassan instructed executive teams to follow "strict" timelines managed through the Prime Ministry and submit regular progress reports to keep projects on track for 2030.

Citing HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein’s recent visit to Bethany Beyond the Jordan (the Baptism Site), Hassan urged teams to deliver on last month’s infrastructure agreements and upgrade services for incoming pilgrims and tourists.

The Prime Minister said importance of launching global marketing campaigns over the next three years to promote Jordan as a "primary" Christian pilgrimage destination across North and South America, Europe, and Asia.

He directed officials to evaluate creating a traveling museum and to deepen ties with churches and travel agencies worldwide, calling for a "detailed" calendar of events spanning 2027 to 2030.

In turn, Tourism Minister Emad Hijazeen briefed the committee on the 6 specialized task forces overseeing operations: infrastructure, church relations, narrative and communications, marketing and partnerships, visitor experience and digital transformation, and the official events calendar.
