Mafraq, Mar. 7 (Petra) – HRH Princess Basma bint Talal, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Jordan Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) and head of the Goodwill Campaign, visited the Mafraq Development Center on Saturday to engage with transformative local initiatives. Accompanied by the Governor of Mafraq, Firas Abu Al-Ghanam, and JOHUD Executive Director Farah Daghistani, Her Royal Highness met with the organizers of several grassroots projects designed to bridge social gaps and promote community resilience. These efforts include a community medical aid program that refurbishes and redistributes mobility assistance devices to those in need, as well as the "Hifz Al-Ni'mah" project, which coordinates the ethical recovery and distribution of surplus food to underprivileged families according to rigorous health standards.

The visit highlighted the center’s role as a launchpad for youth talent through programs like "Our Sports Unite Us," which revitalizes local athletic spaces, and a "Technology Platform" providing specialized training in robotics and digital programming. Her Royal Highness commended the ingenuity of the local participants, noting that the ability of Jordanian youth to pivot from identifying communal challenges to implementing operational solutions is a vital national asset. She underscored that JOHUD’s strategic focus remains the empowerment of women and youth, viewing their development as an essential investment in the country’s future.

In observance of the holy month, Princess Basma distributed academic grants through the Goodwill Campaign to university students pursuing degrees tailored to modern labor market requirements. This humanitarian outreach extended to 50 female-headed households in the governorate, who received essential food parcels, while orphaned children were provided with new clothing and toys. Her Royal Highness also toured a rural marketplace featuring home-based goods produced by local women and visited the Noor Al-Ain Charitable Society. To ensure the long-term viability of the society’s handicraft sector, the Goodwill Campaign announced the provision of advanced equipment, including an electronic embroidery machine. Hamsa Al-Amoush, Director of the Princess Basma Development Center in Mafraq, concluded the day with a briefing on the center’s comprehensive developmental roadmap for the region.
