Amman, July 7 (Petra) – HRH Princess Ghida Talal, chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, participated in the annual Stavros Niarchos Foundation Nostos Conference in Athens, where she delivered a keynote address titled "The Power of Partnerships in Confronting the Cancer Care Equity Gap." Princess Ghida emphasized the importance of partnerships in narrowing gaps in access to cancer treatment and advancing health equity for patients, particularly in areas facing economic and humanitarian challenges.

She highlighted Jordan’s experience in expanding access to cancer care through the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC).

Princess Ghida said a patient’s place of birth or socioeconomic circumstances should not determine their chances of survival or access to advanced treatment. She reviewed KHCC’s efforts to provide the latest treatment protocols to underprivileged patients and refugees, while integrating psychosocial support and mental health into comprehensive care.

She also stressed the importance of international partnerships in sustaining cancer treatment services and improving the quality of patient care, citing KHCC’s cooperation with leading global institutions, including the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The partnership with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation builds on strategic cooperation launched in 2022 to cover treatment costs for underprivileged child cancer patients at KHCC.

The annual conference is a major global platform that brings together thought leaders, decision-makers, and experts from around the world to discuss pressing humanitarian, development, and health issues.
