Amman, Aug. 6 (Petra) – Director of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Maaytah visited the Rwanda National Police headquarters on Thursday, where he met Inspector General Commissioner General Felix Namuhoranye to discuss institutional cooperation.
Maaytah stressed the importance of expanding coordination among law enforcement agencies amid evolving security challenges and rapidly changing crime patterns. He noted that exchanging expertise and successful practices strengthens security capabilities, improves police personnel performance, and supports the development of security operations in line with international practices.
Maaytah and Namuhoranye reviewed issues of mutual interest, including police service development, digital transformation in security operations, community policing, and the modernization of command-and-control systems. They also discussed cooperation in correctional and rehabilitation services and inmate social reintegration programs aimed at reducing recidivism and strengthening community security and stability.
Maaytah reiterated the PSD’s commitment to building effective partnerships with security agencies abroad to exchange expertise, strengthen institutional capacity, and improve security performance.
Namuhoranye highlighted the Jordanian PSD’s experience in security, policing, and training. He said the Rwanda National Police seeks to expand bilateral cooperation and benefit from Jordanian expertise.
During the visit, Maaytah also met Rwandan Interior Minister Vincent Biruta to discuss security and police cooperation, capacity-building, crime prevention, training, and digital transformation.
The visit included tours of Rwanda National Police departments, police centers, and training facilities, where Maaytah reviewed operational practices and discussed opportunities for future cooperation.
