AMMAN, Oct. 31 (Petra) – Security forces in Karak Governorate neutralized a contraband payload containing automatic weapons and tactical equipment, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) official spokesperson confirmed Saturday.

Following a citizen report regarding an unidentified package in the Muhai district, units from the Karak Police Directorate executed immediate perimeter containment procedures, cordoning off the area while specialized explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and forensic personnel inspected the target.

Subsequent technical examination revealed that the payload–transported across the border via airborne thermal balloons–contained nine automatic firearms and associated GPS tracking hardware, all of which were impounded into custody.

Preliminary forensic intelligence indicates that the airborne vector drifted into Jordanian airspace driven by prevailing winds from the Kingdom’s southern frontier.

Specialized security units have launched a comprehensive investigation to trace the operational source and illicit network behind the cross-border infiltration attempt.
