AMMAN, August 1 (Petra) -- Airport International Group (AIG), the Jordanian operator of Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), sustained efficient and reliable operations throughout the first half of 2026, demonstrating organizational resilience in the face of ongoing regional aviation headwinds.

According to a company statement released on Saturday, QAIA welcomed three million, seven hundred forty-four thousand, nine hundred and one passengers during the initial six months of the year, marking a fifteen percent decrease compared to the corresponding period in 2025.

During the same half-year timeframe, the airport recorded thirty-two thousand, three hundred and eleven aircraft movements, reflecting an eleven-point-one percent year-on-year decline, while cargo operations handled thirty thousand, six hundred and eighteen tonnes, representing a nineteen-point-nine percent drop.

For the month of June alone, QAIA welcomed seven hundred forty-nine thousand, one hundred and fifty-three passengers alongside six thousand, one hundred and fifteen aircraft movements, accompanied by an air cargo volume of six thousand, five hundred and forty-six tonnes.

When compared to June 2025 performance indicators, passenger traffic rose by four-point-four percent, aircraft movements increased by four-point-nine percent, and cargo volumes surged by thirty-five-point-nine percent. Nonetheless, near-term transport activity is projected to remain susceptible to volatility driven by broader regional geopolitical developments.

While these figures underscore the persistent impact of regional instability on the aviation sector, they simultaneously highlight the airport's capacity to preserve continuity of operations within a demanding operational landscape.

Airport International Group Chief Executive Officer, Nicolas Deviller, stated that the organization's primary objective throughout the first half of 2026 centered on guaranteeing operational efficiency and reliability while safeguarding Jordan's international air connectivity despite a difficult regional environment.

"As we look ahead, we will continue working closely with our strategic partners to reinforce the airport's position as a vital gateway for tourism, commerce, and economic development, while upholding the high standards of service our passengers and stakeholders anticipate," Deviller added.
