Amman, Jan. 29 (Petra) – Minister of Transport Dr. Nidal Qatamin on Thursday discussed with the Indian Ambassador to Jordan, Manish Chauhan, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the transport sector, particularly in the rail services field, in a bid to serve mutual interests and support development efforts.

During the meeting held at the ministry's headquarters, Qatamin noted the "strong" Jordanian-Indian relations, stressing the need to turn these relations into "practical and sustainable" cooperation that achieves mutual benefit, mainly in vital sectors with economic and developmental impact.

The minister reviewed the Kingdom's plans to develop the transport system, including the railway sector, as a "strategic" pillar for improving transport efficiency and supporting supply chains. Qatamin also referred to cooperation opportunities with the Indian side in the areas of planning, implementation, and knowledge transfer, as well as localizing railway-related industries, in collaboration with the Jordanian private sector.

In turn, Indian ambassador affirmed the "deep-rooted" bilateral relations, expressing his country's readiness to enhance cooperation with Jordan in the transport sector and provide technical expertise and advanced experience, mainly in the rail transport field and related industries.

The diplomat expressed his country's aspiration to build "effective" partnerships, based on the expertise transfer and increased cooperation between the public and private sectors to achieve mutual benefits.
