Queen Alia Airport Free Zone Highlights Role in Regional Air Cargo Network

Amman, Sept. 14 (Petra) -- The Queen Alia International Airport Free Zone is positioning its direct access to air freight networks as a key link between global supply chains and markets in the Kingdom and the wider region, the Jordan Free and Development Zones Group said Monday.

The free zone’s logistics and supply chain operations were highlighted during a visit by 45 industrial engineers, who toured the facility to examine how cargo, customs, manufacturing and clearance services are integrated within the airport-based zone.

The delegation comprised members of the Jordan Engineers Association and the Industrial Engineers Association within the Mechanical Engineering Division.

Free Zones Director General Abdulhamid Gharaibeh briefed the delegation on the zone’s investment and economic activities and its role in facilitating trade and the movement of goods through air cargo channels.

The engineers toured factories and facilities involved in light and medium industries, commercial activities and logistics, as well as customs operations and freight clearance companies.

The group said the zone’s location alongside Queen Alia International Airport enables it to receive goods and supplies requiring air transport from cities worldwide and channel them into the domestic market or onward to regional destinations.

The visit also provided participants with practical insight into the operation of free zones and their links to supply chain management, logistics, manufacturing and trade.

According to the group, the airport free zone forms an integral part of the Kingdom’s transport and logistics infrastructure, leveraging its proximity to the airport and the country’s geographic location to connect international air cargo flows with regional markets.
