Amman, May 5 (Petra) -- Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah attended a charity dinner in Amman on Tuesday marking the 20th anniversary of Al Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans, reaffirming the non-profit’s two-decade commitment to expanding educational opportunities for vulnerable youth across Jordan.

Held under Her Majesty’s patronage, the event celebrated the achievements of the Fund’s beneficiaries, expressed appreciation for its donors for their sustained support, and aimed to secure funding for a new cohort of Jordanian youth to complete their higher education.

Originally launched by Queen Rania in 2003 as a charitable campaign, Al Aman Fund was officially registered as a non-profit organization in 2006, becoming the first Jordanian institution of its kind dedicated to supporting the underserved demographic of orphans aged 18 and above. Named for the Arabic word for "security," Al Aman aims to provide orphaned youth with opportunities to obtain higher education, and achieve professional and personal success in adulthood.

Upon Queen Rania’s arrival at the Grand Hyatt Amman hotel, she joined members of Al Aman Fund’s Board of Directors and General Assembly for a brief meeting with a number of its most prominent donors and partners. Her Majesty expressed her appreciation for the organizations and members of the public who support the Fund and help make its humanitarian mission a reality. The charity event featured testimonials from a number of the Fund’s former beneficiaries, who explained how the organization’s support empowered them to complete their studies and successfully integrate into the workforce and wider society.

The dinner also included remarks from Al Aman’s Director General, Noor Homoud, who expressed her pride in the many young men and women whom Al Aman Fund has helped achieve independence through its financial and non-financial support.

"Today, we are proud to have expanded our services to include orphaned youth across all of Jordan’s governorates, supporting not only those who have graduated from care homes, but also those whose circumstances may have otherwise prevented them from completing their education," Homoud said.

"In addition to education, housing, livelihood support, and health insurance, the Fund has provided training in 75 social, economic, and digital skills," she added.

To date, Al Aman Fund has impacted the lives of more than 5,000 young men and women who have received fully-funded scholarships to complete university degrees, attend community college, or receive vocational training.

The charity event was supported by 38 sponsors and partners across the public and private sector. Platinum sponsors included Housing Bank for Trade and Finance, Jordan Bromine Company, Aqaba Development Corporation, and Equiti Group, while Gold sponsors included Arab Potash Company and Al Waha for Cars.
