Amman, Nov 25 (Petra) – Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah visited the University of Jordan on Tuesday, where she participated in an event to mark the Royal Health Awareness Society’s (RHAS) 20th anniversary.

Held at the University of Jordan’s library under the theme ‘Twenty Years of Giving to the Community,’ RHAS’s anniversary celebration marked the society’s accomplishments since its establishment in 2005, stressing its role in raising health awareness and empowering individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles. The event also highlighted RHAS’s growth into a globally recognized organization, contributing to a number of international health steering committees.

Her Majesty was received at the library by University President Dr. Nathir Obeidat, RHAS Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Rami Farraj, and RHAS Director Amal Ireifij, where she walked through the RHAS Journey Tunnel, highlighting the evolution of RHAS from its founding in 2005. She also stopped at the Partners Wall, an installation paying tribute to key institutional partners and supporters of RHAS.

Queen Rania also joined a student-led session on mental health awareness, highlighting the society’s work on youth Psychosocial well-being. She also stopped by a number of interactive booths, which offered sensory and interactive experiences showcasing RHAS’s programs that address areas including mental health, nutrition, physical activity, chronic diseases, family medicine, and smoking prevention.

Held over the course of four days, the anniversary event aims to give students and visitors the chance to explore RHAS’s initiatives and reinforce the society’s efforts to build healthy lives by serving as a leading platform promoting health awareness, prevention, and participation.

While at the university, the Queen also visited the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching with President Obeidat to learn about the Educational Content Digitization Project. The project aims to transform the means by which academic material is delivered, replacing conventional, lecture-based presentations with a visually rich and professionally produced digital format.

Accompanied by the center’s Director Dr. Raed Al-Taher, Her Majesty toured the production lab and dropped in on a digitized interactive dentistry lecture given by Dr. Aseel Al-Shraireh.

Obeidat explained that the project, which was launched in 2024, centers on enhancing interactive learning using modern methods that are on par with international best practices. The project involves transforming curricula into advanced interactive platforms that improve the learning experience and strengthen faculty performance without interfering with the teaching process. To date, the University of Jordan has begun digitizing the academic content of over 280 undergraduate degrees, 2,700 courses, and tens of thousands of learning materials.
