AMMAN, Aug. 8 (Petra) -- Omani driver Abdullah Al-Hammoud and his Jordanian co-driver Atta Al-Hammoud, piloting a blistering Skoda Fabia RS, powered their way to a dominant victory at the fourth round of the Jordan Rally, which tore across grueling gravel stages on Friday.
The high-octane event, organized by Jordan Motorsport and sponsored by Zain Jordan, kicked off and finished at the Manaseer station on the Desert Highway, testing machines and crews across a punishing 124.12 km total route, featuring 80.14 km of specialized gravel stages divided between Qatraneh (1 and 2) and Damikhi (1 and 2).
A competitive grid of 17 driver-and-co-driver pairings from Jordan, Palestine, and Lebanon took the start line, but the brutal desert terrain exacted a heavy toll.
Among the high-profile casualties forced into retirement were Shaker Jweihan and co-driver Mustafa Jumaa, Saif Al-Sheikh and Imad Jumaa, Hashem Kalbouneh and Dirgham Ristem, Amjad Al-Sheikh and Badr Hilalat, the all-female crew of Farah Zakaria and Lebanese co-driver Lynn Schlink, and Faisal Qumaz alongside Salama Qumaz.
When the dust settled on the podium, it was fellow Jordanians Bader Al-Fayez and Lebanese co-driver Joseph Matar who steered their Skoda Fabia RS to a hard-fought second-place finish. Rounding out the podium in third place was the crew of Shadi Shaaban and co-driver Samer Issa, charging hard behind the wheel of their Mitsubishi Evo 9.
