Amman, Nov. 26 (Petra) – Rainfall from the latest weather episode has improved Jordan’s precipitation totals for the current season, adding between 1% and 6% of the annual average across several regions.
According to data from the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), Salt recorded the highest accumulation at 15.6 mm, equal to 3% of its seasonal average. It was followed by Baqoura with 15 mm (4%) and Ramtha with 13.5 mm (6%).
In Amman, the Al-Hussein Gardens station measured 8 mm, or 2% of its seasonal norm, while Tafileh in the south registered 5.4 mm, amounting to 3%.
JMD Director Raed Al Khattab said the rainfall had a positive impact on the season, particularly in northern areas, which are now close to their expected averages for this time of year. He noted that while such systems are often irregular, they play a key role in boosting cumulative rainfall.
Al Khattab added that totals remain below average in parts of central and southern Jordan, expressing hope for additional weather systems in the coming weeks to improve overall conditions.
He urged the public to follow official weather advisories and avoid valleys and flood-prone areas during unstable conditions.
