Regional Airspace Reopening Lifts Traffic Through Jordan, Aviation Chief Says

Amman, April 9 (Petra) -- Jordan's airspace has remained fully operational since the onset of recent regional developments, with flight operations continuing without disruption, according to the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission.

Commission Chairman Capt. Dhaifallah Al-Farajat said air navigation in Jordan has not experienced any closures, noting that overall traffic has continued to operate normally.

He added that Royal Jordanian flights have maintained regular operations to European and North American destinations, with no interruptions recorded.

Al-Farajat said earlier limited suspensions were linked solely to countries that closed their airspace, which required temporary suspension of flights to those destinations for safety reasons, rather than any restrictions within Jordanian airspace.

He noted that with the easing of military activity in the region, a recovery phase has begun, marked by the reopening of neighboring airspaces, particularly in Syria and Iraq.

This development is expected to support the resumption of flights to airports in those countries and restore regional air connectivity.

Al-Farajat said the improving conditions have already begun to reflect positively on Jordan’s aviation sector, with several international airlines resuming flights to Jordanian airports.

He also pointed to an increase in international overflight traffic through Jordanian airspace, supported by improved stability and the reopening of nearby air routes.

He added that shorter flight paths toward eastern and northern destinations are helping reduce operating costs for airlines and encouraging increased flight frequencies.

Al-Farajat said Jordan’s aviation system is fully prepared to accommodate the expected rise in air traffic, reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and security for all flights.
