Report highlights EMV's advances in Jordan's cybersecurity sector during Q1 2026

Amman, May 23 (Petra) – The Executive Program Report for the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV) 2026-2029 highlighted key achievements during the first quarter of this year within the Future Services component of the cybersecurity sector.

The report also mentioned within the project to build and develop sectoral response teams aimed at enhancing national preparedness for responding to cyber incidents in vital sectors, tenders were issued for the targeted sectors, and their evaluation procedures were monitored.

For this purpose, agreements were concluded, and coordination with international partners was strengthened.

These steps came under the project to encourage local strategic partnerships and enhance Jordan's regional and international role, which contributed to raising national readiness and improving Jordan's ranking on the global cybersecurity index.

In this context, a number of initiatives were implemented, including graduation of the ninth cohort from the "Cyber Knights" camp, implementation of several training and awareness sessions for government employees, training school students on the "Capture the Flag" challenges, launch of national awareness campaigns such as "Cyber Crescent" and "Digital Insight" to promote cybersecurity awareness, and a workshop on security verification services aimed at enhancing technical readiness.

Furthermore, international cooperation was strengthened by meeting with the National Cybersecurity Agency in Qatar.

The report also confirmed, in an effort to develop the Kingdom's digital evidence infrastructure and enhance digital forensics capabilities at the national level, work is underway to implement the National Digital Evidence Laboratory Development Project.

This process involves preparing the laboratory's tender documents and completing the necessary procedures and approvals for this purpose.

To empower national institutions to implement the Jordanian National Cybersecurity Framework and enhance their cybersecurity maturity, the relevant Empowerment Project is underway.

This project aims to enable six national institutions (Greater Amman Municipality, Jordan Phosphate Mines Company, the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission, Umniah, Total Energies Jordan, and the Ministry of Local Administration) to implement the Jordan National Cybersecurity Framework.

It also aims to conduct training and awareness workshops at 3 levels to strengthen institutional capacities, implementing business modeling to support institutional transformation, applying the OpenFair methodology for quantitative risk assessment, and developing individualized roadmaps for each institution to raise their cybersecurity maturity.

This process aims to enhance national cybersecurity awareness and improve technical and human capabilities across various sectors, a series of training and awareness initiatives have been implemented.

These initiatives include conducting national awareness workshops that benefited over 4,000 participants, holding training sessions for liaison officers of the "Wa'i" platform, conducting specialized training courses, and strengthening partnerships with the public and private sectors and local communities in the field of cybersecurity awareness.

As part of strengthening national capabilities in early detection of security vulnerabilities and raising the level of cyber protection, tender documents for the security vulnerability testing system were prepared and the necessary approvals for its launch were completed, in preparation for moving to the subsequent implementation phases.
