Amman, Aug. 10 (Petra) – Programs and projects implemented by the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF) between 2015 and 2025 benefited 2,288,646 people, or 19.2% of Jordan's population, while generating cumulative energy bill savings of approximately JD152.9 million and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 883,270 tons.

According to the Fund's "A Decade of Achievement" report, its programs also reduced energy consumption by approximately 817.6 gigawatt-hours (GWh), while photovoltaic systems supported by the Fund generated approximately 681.6 GWh of electricity.

The report was launched Monday under the patronage of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources and Chairperson of the Fund's Board of Directors, documenting the Fund's achievements from 2015 to 2025 and outlining its strategic vision through 2030 in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Jordan.

The Fund explained that its achievements have contributed to strengthening energy security and efficiency, reducing emissions and supporting Jordan's transition toward a green economy and sustainable development.

Kharabsheh pointed to the figures as reflecting the significant development impact of the Fund's programs, which have reached 19.2% of the Kingdom's population. He added that the programs generated approximately JD152.9 million in cumulative savings on consumers' energy bills and reduced carbon dioxide emissions by about 883,000 tons.

He noted that these achievements account for 7.8% of Jordan's 2030 emissions reduction targets and 7.6% of the total number of solar water heaters installed in the Kingdom, underscoring the Fund's role in supporting energy security and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Kharabsheh described the Fund as a national platform bringing together the government and national and international donors to support renewable energy and energy efficiency programs and projects. He added that this role supports Jordan's energy transition, develops the energy services market, empowers the private sector and contributes to developing technical specifications and standards that enhance the sector's competitiveness and sustainability.

Fund Executive Director Rasmi Hamza noted that over the past 11 years, the Fund's programs have had a tangible impact on citizens and institutions, reaching more than 2 million beneficiaries across the Kingdom's governorates.

He explained that the Fund's legislative framework was established in 2012 and its operations began in 2015 as part of a national effort to support the transition to renewable energy and improve energy efficiency across various sectors.

Hamza stressed that the Fund was established in response to a national need, based on the importance of energy to living standards, the competitiveness of economic sectors and sustainable development.

He outlined how the Fund's programs have reached households, schools, hospitals, farms, industrial facilities, hotels, shelters and places of worship, helping reduce energy costs, improve efficiency, generate economic savings and lower carbon emissions.

Hamza emphasized that the impact of the programs extends beyond the number of projects and beneficiaries, citing examples of households reducing energy costs, farmers improving their ability to maintain production through renewable energy, and educational and health institutions improving their working environments and services.

He added that the programs have strengthened the competitiveness of industrial and tourism establishments while creating new opportunities for young people.

Hamza commended the Fund's partners in the private sector, donor community and national and international institutions, as well as the staff of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Fund, for their contributions to the achievements.

Looking ahead, he said the next phase will focus on expanding the reach of renewable energy and energy efficiency programs to more households, institutions and productive sectors, turning energy into greater economic, social and development opportunities.

According to the report, the Fund supported the installation of 13,748 renewable energy systems and 45,298 solar water heaters for households across the Kingdom. The report said the Fund's contribution represented approximately 7.6% of the total number of solar water heaters installed in Jordan as of 2026.

The Fund also supported energy efficiency measures at 162 economic and service facilities, while 1,098 facilities implemented renewable energy solutions with a combined installed photovoltaic capacity of 69.3 megawatts.

The report outlined an integrated financing system through which various sectors and groups could access support through full and partial grants ranging from 10% to 50%, in addition to revolving loans. The financing mechanisms helped accelerate the adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions.

The Fund also expanded partnerships with international institutions, including the European Union, Italy's Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), contributing to the sustainability and wider implementation of its programs.

The report noted that the Fund's projects have covered residential and industrial facilities, hotels, municipalities, hospitals and health centers, places of worship, humanitarian organizations and the agricultural sector, helping reduce energy costs, improve productivity and service quality, enhance competitiveness and advance Jordan's transition to clean energy.
