Irbid, April 7 (Petra)-- Residents in the Bani Kinana district have complained about the poor condition of the "Al-Mazare’" road, which stretches from Sama Al-Rousan junction to Kafr Jayez junction towards the ring road leading to Amman, citing severe deterioration of its infrastructure.

They said the road has become heavily damaged due to widespread potholes caused by recent rainfall, as well as excavations linked to an ongoing water project, resulting in disruption and hardship for drivers and road users.

Residents noted that the road serves a large portion of the district’s population, as it shortens travel distances and provides direct access to the ring road without passing through Irbid city. However, they said using it has become a daily struggle due to the damage inflicted on vehicles.

They called on Greater Irbid Municipality and Bani Kinana municipalities to carry out urgent repairs to the potholes and rehabilitate the road, urging the water company to oblige the contractor to properly resurface areas affected by water network excavations without delay, given the road’s importance and heavy use.

For her part, Tahani Al-Hazaimeh, director of engineering projects at Greater Irbid Municipality, said sections of the Al-Mazare’ road require comprehensive rehabilitation, noting that the municipality is currently working to accurately determine the causes of the damage before commencing maintenance work, particularly in light of ongoing work by the water company’s contractor.

She added that Yarmouk Water Company had previously implemented a water pipeline in the area, and if it is found that the damage was caused by this line, the cost of repairs will be charged to the company in accordance with applicable procedures.

Al-Hazaimeh said the municipality is following up on citizens’ complaints and will conduct a field inspection to precisely determine the causes of the damage, in preparation for implementing appropriate solutions and properly rehabilitating the road.

Yarmouk Water Company, for its part, said that the ongoing excavations will be rehabilitated after completion of works on the main transmission pipeline supplying the Bani Kinana district, which runs from the Zubda reservoir in Irbid city to the Sama Al-Rousan reservoir. It added that the process requires testing the pipeline and pumping water to ensure its integrity before proceeding with proper paving works to avoid any future issues.
