Amman, June 23 (Petra) – Royal Jordanian (RJ) announced the launch of a new direct flight route connecting Amman and the Austrian capital, Vienna, on Wednesday, June 24.
This move aims to strengthen RJ's presence in the European market and expand its global network.
In a statement, the RJ said the route will operate from Queen Alia International Airport with four weekly flights using its newest aircraft, equipped with internet access and advanced entertainment systems to ensure a "comfortable travel experience for passengers." RJ Vice Chairman and CEO, Samer Majali, said the Amman-Vienna route is part of the carrier's strategy to enhance its position as a "leading" airline in the region and increase its market share in Europe, one of the company's key markets.
Additionally, he added that the route supports Jordan's status as a "global" tourist destination and attracts tourists to discover Jordan's diverse attractions.
He said the new route is a "valuable" addition to RJ's network, minaly since the Austrian capital is a major European hub offering access to numerous destinations for travelers.
The step, he noted, will contribute to strengthening air connectivity between Jordan and Central Europe, opening the door to "greater" tourism and trade between the two countries and facilitating connections via Royal Jordanian's hub in Amman to other destinations in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.
As for the RJ's continued vision to implement its expansion plan, he said this scheme covers steps to add new destinations, upgrade its fleet, and enhance the passenger experience, which would increase the carrier's "competitiveness" in regional and global markets.
