Amman, Sept. 16 (Petra) -- Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry condemned the Houthi militia drone targeting Makkah city, saying the attack targets Islamic holy sites and provokes Muslims' sentiments.
In a statement Wednesday, carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the ministry said this failed strike was the second attempt to target Makkah after a previous attack in 2017.
The ministry also praised "vigilance" of Saudi air defense forces, which intercepted and destroyed the drone before entering the holy capital's restricted airspace.
Saudi Arabia urged the international community to condemn the attacks and take a firm stance against Houthi strikes on holy sites and civilian and economic facilities in the kingdom.
On future policy, the Kingdom affirmed it will continue measures to protect the two holy mosques, pilgrims and its territory.
