Second National Employment Day Offers 9,000 Job Opportunities Across Kingdom

Amman, July 7 (Petra) -- The Second National Employment Day kicked off on Tuesday at the Sports City in Amman, bringing together hundreds of private-sector companies and job seekers as part of efforts to expand employment opportunities and support workforce participation.

Minister of Transport and Acting Minister of Labor Nidal Qatamin inaugurated the event, which is organized by the Ministry of Labor in partnership with UNICEF and supported by the Kingdom of the Netherlands through the Afaq Partnership.

The employment initiative is being held at 15 locations across the Kingdom, including four sites in Amman, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Around 700 companies and institutions from various economic sectors are taking part, including private education, services and finance, tourism, telecommunications, industry, logistics, and security. The participating companies are offering nearly 9,000 job opportunities through employment fairs held nationwide.

Qatamin said the initiative reflects the government's efforts under the Economic Modernization Vision to implement programs that support youth employment, develop skills in line with labor market needs, and increase women's economic participation.

He highlighted the role of cooperation with the private sector in creating employment opportunities for Jordanians, noting that connecting job seekers with employers remains among the ministry's key priorities. He also stressed the importance of providing suitable workplace conditions for women and persons with disabilities while ensuring their labor rights.

UNICEF Representative in Jordan Marc Rubin said behind every employment opportunity is a young person seeking a path toward building a future. He stressed the importance of ensuring access to opportunities for women, persons with disabilities, and youth in less advantaged communities.

Rubin added that UNICEF's partnership with the Ministry of Labor extends beyond the one-day event, forming part of efforts to strengthen the national employment system through sustainable partnerships focused on skills development, job opportunities, and economic empowerment.

Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of the Netherlands Pier de Vries said supporting efforts to provide more jobs for young people and equip them with the skills needed for the labor market is a key priority for the Netherlands through the government-funded Afaq Partnership.

Following the event, the Ministry of Labor and UNICEF will review employment outcomes, analyze participation data, and connect job seekers with national employment services, including the National Employment Program, the Sajjil employment platform, and vocational training pathways.

The Second National Employment Day is being held ahead of World Youth Skills Day on July 15, highlighting the importance of skills development, education, and technical and vocational training in improving youth employability and supporting sustainable economic growth.
