Amman, April 15 (Petra) --Senate's Jordanian-Azerbaijani Brotherhood Committee, chaired by Ghazi Muqaibil met on Wednesday with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Jordan, Shahin Abdullayev, to discuss ways to enhance and expand cooperation across parliamentary, economic, cultural and tourist sectors.

Talking at the meeting, Muqaibil highlighted the "depth" of bilateral relations, built on mutual respect and shared understanding under the leadership of both countries.

The senator reiterated Jordan’s commitment to strengthening ties to serve mutual interests at the official and public levels.

He pointed to opportunities to boost joint economic and investment cooperation, particularly in energy, tourism and trade domains.

He also called for "effective partnerships and greater use of available investment environments to support economic development." Muqaibil urged continued coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

In this context, he reiterated Jordan’s "firm" stance, under His Majesty King Abdullah II's leadership, particularly on the Palestinian cause.

He also underscored the Kingdom’s efforts to promote regional security and stability through dialogue and political and diplomatic solutions.

He emphasized the need for de-escalation amid tensions linked to the conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel, urging intensified international efforts to prevent further escalation and safeguard regional stability.

For his part, Abdullayev expressed pride in the level of bilateral relations and their shared positions on key issues, commending Jordan’s "central" role, under King Abdullah II, in promoting regional stability.

He affirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Jordan, particularly in tourism, cultural exchange, food industries and energy, to enhance economic integration and mutual interests.

Noting "significant" potential to increase trade, he stressed the need to open new avenues for cooperation and strengthen engagement between public and private sectors to advance economic partnership.

Committee members, in turn, called for sustained engagement between Amman and Baku, increased official and parliamentary exchanges, and joint efforts to build on such meetings to advance relations, mainly by boosting trade and broadening cooperation.
