Amman, March 11 (Petra) -- Head of the Jordanian-French Friendship Committee in the Senate, Senator Salameh Hammad, met Wednesday with French Ambassador to Jordan Franck Gillet to discuss ways to enhance relations between Jordan and France, as well as several regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Hammad highlighted the deep historical ties between the two countries, stressing the importance of expanding cooperation in parliamentary, economic, cultural, and tourism fields, and strengthening coordination to serve mutual interests and reinforce partnership across various sectors.

The meeting also reviewed key developments in the region, with Hammad referring to the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II to support security and peace, promote stability, and advance political and diplomatic solutions to address regional crises.

Discussions also covered regional developments, particularly escalating tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, in addition to the Palestinian issue and the situation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Participants stressed the need for solutions that help alleviate humanitarian suffering and achieve a just and comprehensive peace.

For his part, Gillet reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Jordan in various fields, praising the Kingdom’s role, under the leadership of King Abdullah II, in supporting regional stability and promoting dialogue and understanding among nations.

He also highlighted the importance of meetings and visits with the Senate and various institutions and sectors in the Kingdom, noting their role in enhancing dialogue and exchanging views on issues of common concern.

Gillet commended the level of coordination and consultation between King Abdullah II and French President Emmanuel Macron, reflecting the depth of relations and the shared commitment to continued cooperation across different sectors.
