Senate committee, Uzbek honorary consul discuss cooperation

Amman, April 7 (Petra) – The Senate's Jordanian-Uzbek Brotherhood Committee, chaired by Dr. Hayel Obeidat, met on Tuesday with Uzbekistan's Honorary Consulto Jordan, Luay Abu Ghazaleh, to discuss bilateral relations.

Speaking at the meeting, Obeidat called for strengthening bilateral relations, particularly after His Majesty King Abdullah II made a visit to Tashkent, which reflects the "historical depth" of the shared ties.

He noted the visit of Senate President Faisal Fayez and his accompanying delegation to Uzbekistan, aimed at strengthening the "deep-rooted" bilateral relations and ensuring their continued consolidation across various fields.

He also noted the importance of ongoing coordination and consultation on issues of mutual interest and steps to enhance joint parliamentary cooperation.

On future cooperation, Obaidat called for leveraging Uzbekistan's expertise, particularly in the medical, health and educational sectors, the pharmaceutical industry, and others.

He stressed the importance of building "effective" and reciprocal partnerships with the private sector.

He added that the next phase requires translating these "distinguished" relations into tangible action plans and joint projects that contribute to achieving mutual interests and enhancing investment opportunities and economic exchange.

He also noted importance of exchanging expertise and knowledge and establishing sustainable communication channels between the two countries' official institutions and the private sector.

For his part, Abu Ghazaleh affirmed the "depth" of the bilateral relations, which are witnessing "remarkable" development in various fields.

He noted visa waiver between the two sides will contribute to facilitating movement and communication and opening "broader" cooperation horizons.

The next phase, he noted, will witness an important investment conference and invitations will be sent out.

He urged the Jordanian private sector's contribution, mainly in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, and the continuation of economic partnerships and the investment of available opportunities.

Meanwhile, the committee members stressed the importance of building upon the existing joint relations and working to expand areas of cooperation to serve mutual interests.

The senators emphasized the need to activate coordination and consultation frameworks and exchange expertise in priority sectors.

They also called for strengthening the role of the private sector and opening new horizons for investment, which would contribute to supporting the joint economic development process.
