Amman, June 25 (Petra) -- Senate President Faisal Fayez announced Thursday that the Senate has donated JD20,000 to the King Hussein Cancer Center to support the relocation of its early detection unit to the Abdoun area and to dedicate an examination room for patients in the Senate’s name.

Fayez said the Senate provides financial support to official institutions and national organizations engaged in medical, therapeutic, educational, charitable, and volunteer work. He added that it also assists vulnerable families through its Social Solidarity Fund, which is financed exclusively through monthly contributions from senators’ personal allowances.

He said the donation reflects the Senate’s commitment to supporting national institutions and enabling them to continue delivering services amid prevailing economic challenges. He noted that it is not the first contribution to the King Hussein Cancer Center, highlighting the center’s role in providing advanced medical care and ensuring the availability of essential treatment and medical supplies.

Fayez said the Social Responsibility Fund, established within the Senate in 2017, is funded through fixed monthly deductions from members’ allowances.

He said, "In line with His Majesty King Abdullah II’s approach to supporting social and volunteer work, we call on banks, chambers of commerce and industry, major companies and professional associations to establish social solidarity and humanitarian aid funds as part of national responsibility amid economic challenges facing the region." He added that the Senate, through its Social Solidarity Fund, seeks to promote the principles of social responsibility and volunteer work advocated by His Majesty King Abdullah II.

Fayez also expressed appreciation for the efforts of Her Royal Highness Princess Ghida Talal and the medical and administrative staff at the King Hussein Cancer Center for their work in serving patients and advancing medical care.
