Amman, Mar. 17 (Petra) – Senate President Faisal Fayez on Tuesday discussed with British Ambassador to Jordan Philip Hall, discussed aspects of Jordanian-British relations.

During a meeting held at the Senate's hwadquarters, the two sides also went over the importance of developing and building upon these ties in various fields, and exploring broader horizons for bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries.

The talks addressed the current situation and the latest developments in the region, particularly the potential Iranian-American-Israeli conflict and its repercussions on the security and stability of the region and the world.

Fayez said expanding the scope of the conflict in the region would lead to further conflicts, chaos, and destruction.

Reiterating Jordan's stance that it won't become a battleground for any party, he stressed the Kingdom's rejection of any aggression that threatens its security, stability, and sovereignty, or that threatens the security of its brotherly Arab states.

He noted the Iranian missile and drone attacks on Jordan and other Arab states are "unacceptable, rejected, and condemned." Fayez noted His Majesty King Abdullah II stressed the necessity of ending this war due to its grave repercussions for the region and the world.

Through intensive communications and talks with world leaders since the outbreak of the crisis, he said His Majesty urged the international community to work to achieve a "comprehensive and sustainable" ceasefire that contributes to restoring stability and achieving peace for all.

Fayez added that His Majesty also noted this war should not distract the international community from the necessity of compelling the Israeli occupation state to implement the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, working to end suffering of the Palestinian people and allowing humanitarian aid to enter the strip.

In turn, the British ambassador affirmed the importance of the "strategic" partnership in various fields, particularly ending the region's conflicts.

The diplomat commended the level of Jordan-UK relations and the significant efforts undertaken by His Majesty King Abdullah II to establish security and stability in the region.
