Senate President Reaffirms Jordan’s Support for Yemen’s Security, Sovereignty

Amman, Oct. 5 (Petra) -- Senate President Faisal Fayez said Jordan, under His Majesty King Abdullah II, stands firmly with Yemen in supporting Yemeni legitimacy, restoring security and stability, preserving its sovereignty and territorial unity, and ending its people's suffering.

Fayez met in his office Monday with Yemeni Foreign and Expatriates Minister Afrah Abdulaziz Zouba, in the presence of Yemeni Ambassador to Jordan Jalal Faqira. They discussed relations, ways to strengthen them, and current developments in Yemen.

Fayez stressed the Kingdom's solidarity with the Yemeni government in facing attacks by the Houthi militia. He said Jordan rejects Iranian attacks, including those carried out through Iran's proxies in the region, on Jordan, the Arab Gulf states and Yemen.

He also welcomed efforts to enable the Yemeni government to extend its control over all Yemeni territory.

Fayez referred to the King's address to the UN General Assembly, saying it presented the international community with the reality of the current stage in the region and the responsibilities it entails for protecting security and stability, halting violations and respecting international law.

Zouba praised Jordan's support for Yemen and for the Yemeni people and legitimacy. She also commended the King's efforts to end conflicts in the region, unify Arab ranks and defend Arab causes.

She affirmed Yemen's commitment to developing and sustaining relations with Jordan to serve shared interests.
