Senate Speaker: Jordan's Anti-Money Laundering Steps Win International Recognition

Amman, Sept. 13 (Petra) -- Jordan has taken advanced, internationally recognized steps in combating money laundering and terrorist financing, directly bolstering the stability of its financial system and strengthening the appeal of its business and investment environment, Senate Speaker Faisal Al-Fayez said Sunday.

Al-Fayez said Jordan's efforts in this field go beyond domestic measures, describing them as an active partnership with the international system that reflects the Kingdom's compliance with the highest global standards.

His remarks came during a meeting at the Senate with Hamid Al Zaabi, President of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF), and an accompanying delegation.

The MENAFATF president and delegation members praised Jordan's measures against money laundering and terrorist financing, crediting the kingdom's legislation and institutional work for its removal from the gray list.

They affirmed the group's commitment to cooperating with Jordan and providing the support needed to help the Kingdom continue confronting money-laundering and terrorist-financing challenges, particularly amid technological advances and the rise in financial crimes linked to them.
