Amman, Jan. 6 (Petra) -- Temperatures are expected to rise slightly on Tuesday, with relatively cold weather prevailing across most regions, while conditions will be mild in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. High-altitude clouds will appear, and winds will be moderate southeasterly.

According to the Jordan Meteorological Department, temperatures will continue to rise on Wednesday and Thursday. The weather will remain relatively cold over high mountain areas, mild in the Badia and plains, and relatively warm in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. High-altitude clouds are expected, with moderate southeasterly winds continuing.

On Friday, the Kingdom will gradually be affected by a cold and moist air mass associated with a low-pressure system centered north of the island of Cyprus. A noticeable drop in temperatures is expected, with cold and partly cloudy conditions turning cloudy. Rainfall will begin in northern parts of the Kingdom and later extend to most regions.

By evening hours, the cold front accompanying the low-pressure system will cross the Kingdom, intensifying rainfall, which may be heavy at times in the northern and central regions, as well as the southwestern areas, in addition to the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea.

Thunderstorms and hail are possible at times, which may lead to flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas and a rise in water levels.

Preliminary analyses indicate that during late-night hours and early Saturday morning, there is a short-lived chance of intermittent snowfall on the high peaks of the Sharah Mountains. Winds will shift to westerly and northwesterly, becoming active with strong gusts at times.

Temperatures today are expected to range as follows: Eastern Amman: 15–8 C Western Amman: 13–6 C Northern Highlands: 12–7 C Sharah Highlands: 16–6 C Badia Regions: 19–6 C Plains: 17–8 C Northern Jordan Valley: 23–11 C Southern Jordan Valley: 26–16 C Dead Sea: 25–15 C Gulf of Aqaba: 26–15 C //Petra// WH
