Irbid, Oct. 21 (Petra) Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa on Tuesday inspected a number of income-generating projects in Irbid's Koura District implemented by the Tubna Charity Association, as well as a productive project run by a family benefiting from the National Aid Fund.
During the visit accompanied by MP Ayat Bani Issa, Director General of the National Aid Fund Khitam Shneikat, Koura District Governor Khalaf Qadi, and Deir Abi Saeed Municipal Committee Head Mazen Al-Nuaimi Bani Mustafa said the ministry will continue supporting productivity-enhancing projects implemented by associations, as well as ministry-funded income-generating projects for productive families, particularly those benefiting from the Fund.
She noted that civil associations are key partners to the ministry on the ground, adding that their role extends beyond providing assistance to needy families, as they now play a developmental and diversified role aligned with the needs and priorities of local communities.
During her visit to the Tubna Charity Association, Bani Mustafa announced ministry support for the association and its projects, including the rehabilitation and expansion of its kindergarten and the establishment of a community kitchen project to serve the area and create job opportunities for local men and women.
For his part, Khaled Bani Yassin, head of the Tubna Charity Association, expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Social Development’s support, particularly in establishing and funding productive projects and facilitating the association’s work. He said the association, founded in 1982, helped establish a women’s association out of its belief in the importance of empowering women in rural communities.
He noted that the association has implemented several projects in cooperation with government ministries, civil society organizations, and international institutions, including water harvesting initiatives, a semi-automated bakery, credit funds, small-scale productive family projects, as well as programs supporting persons with disabilities and the elderly, kindergartens, and environmental and agricultural awareness campaigns. The association also provides financial and in-kind assistance to needy families, particularly orphans and children, and offers tutoring sessions for high school students and literacy programs.
During her visit, Bani Mustafa sponsored a graduation ceremony for women from the local community who participated in a project on medicinal plants implemented by the association, commending their perseverance and contributions to their families and communities.
Separately, the minister visited "Al-Fallah Kitchens and Aluminum," a ministry-funded project under the Directorate of Productivity Enhancement, owned by a family benefiting from the National Aid Fund.
Bani Mustafa affirmed that the ministry will continue supporting the project after field studies confirmed its success in improving the family’s income. She directed ministry officials to study and implement the project expansion proposed by the owner.
As part of her tour, Bani Mustafa also handed over a house to a family in the district as part of the Ministry’s "Poor Families Housing Program." She additionally visited a family with four daughters with disabilities, based on information provided by ministry officials, and reviewed their living conditions. The minister instructed the National Aid Fund and relevant departments to provide the family with all necessary assistance, including financial and in-kind support, medical supplies, and a hospital bed, while ensuring their continued inclusion in the Fund’s assistance programs and the Ministry’s alternative care initiatives.
