Salalah, Sept. 17 (Petra) -- Social Development Minister Wafa Bani Mustafa toured the Al-Wafa Centers for rehabilitation of persons with disabilities in Salalah, Oman, on Thursday, on the sidelines of the fourth "Living Independently for Persons with Disabilities" conference.
Bani Mustafa reviewed the center's autism unit, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and sensory development programs tailored to individual cases. She also toured its physical and hydrotherapy programs aimed at improving mobility, balance, and muscle strength.
On vocational rehabilitation, she reviewed skills-training workshops preparing persons with disabilities for the labor market, covering agriculture, printing, food processing, oil distillation and handicrafts, along with programs focused on communication, behavioral and independence skills to support social and educational inclusion.
Bani Mustafa stressed the importance of exchanging expertise between Jordanian and Omani institutions to develop rehabilitation and vocational services for persons with disabilities.
The visit follows Wednesday's signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries' social development ministries to strengthen cooperation in social work and disability rehabilitation.
