Amman, August 4 (Petra) - The Social Security Corporation (SSC) stated it is sending notification notices to 35,000 active, licensed sole proprietorships that are not yet covered under the Social Security Law, paving the way to enroll them and their owners into the system.

The SSC explained that coverage requires at least one active employee per business. Business owners who do not run their operations personally must visit an SSC branch to register at least one worker.

Notices will exclude male business owners aged 60 and older, female owners aged 55 and older, early retirees under the SSC, and recipients of civil or military pensions.

The SSC said that exempt businesses will undergo field inspections to verify whether they employ workers other than the owners.

Recipients have a 15-day grace period to respond and adjust their status. If a business fails to comply within the deadline, formal coverage decisions will be issued automatically. Establishments may appeal these decisions, which will be evaluated based on submitted documentation and follow-up inspections.

The SSC urged affected business owners to visit the nearest branch within the deadline to resolve their status and avoid fines or interest charges. Early, voluntary registration allows businesses to avoid financial penalties before formal coverage decisions take effect.
