Amman, Mar. 18 (Petra) -- South Africa’s Ambassador to Amman, Tselane Mokuena, affirmed the longstanding ties between her country and Jordan, emphasizing the importance of building on these ties and strengthening cooperation across various sectors, particularly tourism.

Her remarks came during a workshop hosted by the South African Embassy in Amman Tuesday evening, aimed at showcasing tourism opportunities in South Africa. The event was attended by stakeholders from the tourism and travel sector, as well as representatives from Dahab Tourism Company, Ethiopian Airlines, travel agencies, and media outlets.

The ambassador expressed her country’s interest in deepening partnerships with Jordan through joint tourism initiatives, knowledge exchange, and coordinated promotional efforts, with the goal of increasing visitor flows between the two nations.

She highlighted South Africa’s key tourism assets, noting the wide diversity of its offerings, including eco-tourism, safari trips, adventure tourism, and cultural tourism, in addition to modern cities and coastal beaches.

Mokuena also noted ongoing efforts to strengthen South Africa’s position as a global tourist destination by investing in infrastructure, promoting sustainable tourism, and attracting more international visitors to support economic growth and job creation.

Emphasizing the country’s regional diversity, she noted that each of South Africa’s nine provinces offers distinct tourism experiences, ranging from national parks and heritage landmarks to scenic trails, shopping hubs, and cultural events.

Participants at the event echoed the importance of building stronger tourism ties, stressing that closer cooperation could open new opportunities for both countries and their tourism sectors.
