Sunny Conditions Set to Lift Temperatures Thursday Before Cooler Weather Returns

Amman, Feb. 5 (Petra) -- Temperatures are set to rise on Thursday under sunny skies, pushing readings above seasonal averages before a slight cooling trend returns from Friday and into the weekend, the Jordan Meteorological Department said.

The department said temperatures will climb by around 5–6 degrees Celsius above normal levels for this time of year on Thursday. Conditions will be sunny and relatively cold over mountainous areas, mild across the Badia and plains, and warm in low-lying regions, including the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba. Southeasterly winds are expected to blow at moderate speeds, becoming active at times in Badia areas.

A slight drop in temperatures is forecast for Friday, with relatively cold conditions returning to most regions, while low-lying areas remain comparatively warm. Clouds are expected at various altitudes, with a weak chance of brief, light showers during the evening hours. Winds will shift to southwesterly and remain moderate, occasionally strengthening.

Conditions are expected to remain relatively cold on Saturday, with clouds at different altitudes. Light, scattered rain may fall during the morning hours in northern areas and parts of the northeastern Badia. Westerly winds are forecast to be active and dust-raising, particularly in Badia regions.

A modest rise in temperatures is expected on Sunday, though relatively cold conditions will persist across most regions. Warmer weather will continue in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, with active southwesterly winds likely to raise dust in Badia areas.

For Thursday, temperatures are expected to range between 19 C and 10 C in eastern Amman, and between 17 C and 8 C in western Amman. The northern highlands will record 15 C to 7 C, while the Sharah highlands are forecast at 16 C to 6 C. In the Badia, temperatures will reach 22 C during the day before falling to 9 C at night, while plains areas will see readings between 19 C and 10 C.

Low-lying regions are expected to remain warmer, with temperatures ranging between 25 C and 13 C in the northern Jordan Valley and 27 C and 17 C in the south. The Dead Sea area will see temperatures of 26 C to 16 C, while Aqaba is forecast to record highs of 27 C and lows of 16 C.
