Amman, Sept. 23 (Petra) – Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives Mazen Qadi called for supporting Jordanian women and enhancing their presence and participation across various fields.

He commended the attention paid by His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Crown Prince to women's issues and their commitment to strengthening women's status and role in Jordan's development process.

According to a House statement issued on Wednesday, Qadi made these remarks, as he attended part of a meeting held by the House Women and Family Affairs Committee.

The discussion addressed challenges facing General Federation of Jordanian Women (GFJW) and its branches nationwide and ways to strengthen the committee's partnership with the federation to serve women's causes and support their social role.

Calling for listening to the women-related challenges and needs, he said this vision would develop legislation and policies that protect women's rights and support their participation in various sectors.

In turn, the Committee Chair, MP Faliha Khudeir, joined by MP Rania Khulaifat, affirmed discussion represents a "practical step to build a genuine partnership with a long-standing national institution that plays a prominent role in defending the rights and achievements of Jordanian women." //Petra// AG
