Amman, Nov. 30 (Petra) -- A delegation from the Central Bank of Syria has concluded a visit to the Banking Studies Institute and the Jordanian FinTech Academy to review Jordan’s experience in developing institutional structures and strengthening regulatory and technical frameworks in the financial sector.

According to a statement issued Sunday, Director General of the Banking Studies Institute Dr. Riyad Al-Hindawi emphasized the Institute’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Arab banking institutions and enhancing the exchange of expertise.

He said the Institute continues to play a leading role in training and qualifying professionals in the banking and financial sectors through advanced programs aligned with international best practices, noting ongoing efforts to update training content to keep pace with rapid developments in the financial industry.

Al-Hindawi highlighted that the Jordanian FinTech Academy, a joint initiative between the Central Bank of Jordan and the Institute, serves as a specialized center for training in financial technology and innovation. The academy offers programs in areas such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, blockchain and virtual assets, aimed at supporting digital transformation and fostering innovation across the banking and financial sectors.

He affirmed the readiness of both the Institute and the Academy to provide full training and capacity-building support to personnel in the Syrian banking and financial sector, helping develop competencies that align with the sector’s evolving needs.

Al-Hindawi also praised the ongoing cooperation with the Central Bank of Jordan and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), noting that such visits underscore the regional role of the Institute and Academy in capacity building.

Omar Al-Halabi, electronic payments and digital transformation specialist at the Central Bank of Syria, said the visit provided an important opportunity to learn from the training models and practical methodologies implemented by the Institute and the Academy. He noted that advanced programs in banking supervision, electronic payments and modern financial technologies offer valuable insights that can support institutional development and digital transformation in Syria’s financial sector.

The visit was organized by GIZ in Syria with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) as part of efforts to strengthen the capacities of partner institutions, improve public services and support the country’s recovery process.
