New York, July 22 (Petra) -- The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite index fell 146 points, or 0.57%, on Wednesday to close at 26,690 points amid broad market declines.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 5 points to 52,219 points, while the benchmark S&P 500 index slid nearly 10 points to end at 7,499 points.

In energy markets, U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil rose more than $2 to reach $86.56 a barrel.
