Amman, Sept. 17 (Petra) -- Jordan's tourism income continued to recover, rising 17.2 percent year-on-year in August to $1,139.4 million, preliminary data from the Central Bank of Jordan showed.

Over the first eight months of the year, tourism income climbed 2.9 percent to $5,557.6 million.

Income from Arab visitors rose 16.3 percent and from Asian nationals 9.5 percent during the eight-month period, while income declined 5.9 percent from Jordanian expatriates, 17.1 percent from U.S. nationals, 23.7 percent from European nationals and 39.9 percent from other nationalities.

Separately, tourism spending by Jordanians and residents rose 4.1 percent in August to $204.8 million, while it fell 5.9 percent over the first eight months to $1,359.0 million.
