Trade Ministry, ITC cooperate to promote data collection in management consulting sector

Amman, Feb. 4 (Petra) –Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, in cooperation with the International Trade Centre (ITC), held a workshop, themed: "Data Collection and Analysis in the Management Consulting Sector" from February 1-3 in Amman.

According to a ministry statement issued Wednesday, this event is part of the national strategy for the management consulting services sector in Jordan and falls within the framework of the UK-Jordan Trade Partnership Programme (TPP).

The statement added that the workshop aimed to enhance availability, quality, and transparency of foreign trade data in the management consulting sector.

This effort would contribute to achieving "sound" policymaking, development of regulatory frameworks, and support for private sector decisions, particularly in high value-added service sectors such as management consulting aspects.

The ministry also noted the sessions focused on widely grasping global statistical standards, including the Balance of Payments Manual, as well as discussing ways to define and classify management consulting services within this framework.

The statement added that the activities combined theoretical and practical aspects by addressing data sources, establishment-related surveys, data collection tool design, and data quality, while leveraging the best international practices and aligning them with the local context.

On its siginifance, the ministry noted the event served as an "important" platform for dialogue and coordination among national entities operating in data production, policymakers, and regulatory bodies.

The workshop aims to identify existing gaps, clarify institutional roles, and agree on a practical roadmap for improving production of services trade statistics in Jordan, which would support Jordan's efforts to build "a more transparent and competitive business environment, particularly in the area of services exports." //Petra// AG
