Mafraq, Mar. 5 (Petra) – Head of the Umm el-Jimal Municipal Committee, Muhammad Abu Ulaim, announced a new achievement reflecting Umm el-Jimal global position after it snatched recognition as part of the FAO's Food and Agriculture Museum and Network (FAO MuNe Network).
In a statement Thursday, Abu Ulaim stated this achievement recognizes the local community's efforts in preserving cultural and natural heritage and promoting sustainability of local resources.
Noting the joint efforts by Umm el-Jimal Municipality and the Jordanian Embassy in Rome in snatching membership, he said this global recognition reflects Umm el-Jimal's "advanced position as a distinguished rural model that combines authentic heritage with a spirit of innovation." Abu Ulaim noted this new situation also strengthens the site's presence on the global map of villages that integrate culinary heritage, education, and sustainable tourism, which contributes to supporting the local economy and create promising development opportunities for the community.
"International recognition is not a fleeting milestone, but rather the fruit of continuous effort, a conscious leadership vision, and diligent work that embraces excellence as a method, achievement as a culture, and municipal work as a noble mission built on hard work and responsibility," he pointed out.
Umm el-Jimal's membership in the FAO MuNe Network aligns with the FAO's global vision aimed at achieving "better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life for all," and establishing the concept of integrated development, based on empowering local communities and preserving their natural resources.
