New York, Sept. 16 (Petra) -- United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres reaffirmed on Wednesday that "there will be no peace in the Middle East without the realization of the two-state solution." Speaking at a press conference at UN Headquarters, Guterres stressed the need not to forget "the horrific suffering endured by the Palestinian people both in the Gaza Strip and in the West Bank," calling for an end to what he described as the "creeping annexation of the West Bank." As world leaders prepare to gather for the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Guterres urged global leaders to fulfill their promises, uphold the UN Charter, defend international law, protect human rights, invest in sustainable and inclusive development, and push for peace.

The UN chief noted that the world is entering a period of "profound uncertainty," marked by shifts in power dynamics, rapid changes, and escalating threats that demand strengthened international cooperation.
