Amman, Oct. 14 (Petra) – The University of Jordan reaffirmed its role as a hub for knowledge exchange and academic collaboration during a meeting with Syrian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Marwan Al-Halabi and his accompanying delegation. The visit was attended by University President Nathir Obeidat, Vice Presidents, Thafer Sarairah, Head of Accreditation and Quality Assurance, and Shadi Mosaada, Acting Secretary-General of the Syrian Ministry of Higher Education.

The discussions focused on joint cooperation in academic and scientific fields, particularly in the development of technology-based programs, reflecting the University of Jordan’s recent advancements in curricula modernization, integration of artificial intelligence, and progress toward digital transformation.

Obeidat emphasized the university’s openness to collaboration with Syrian universities, noting existing partnerships such as the History of the Levant program with Damascus University, and expressed hope that the visit would strengthen bilateral academic ties.

Minister Al-Halabi praised the University of Jordan’s achievements and advanced academic and research environment, highlighting it as a regional model and expressing interest in expanding cooperation with Syrian universities to exchange expertise, develop academic capacities, and enhance scientific research.

During the visit, the delegation toured several advanced university centers, including the Stem Cell Therapy Center, where they were briefed by Abdullah Obeidi Al-Abadi on the center’s work in treating complex diseases. The delegation also visited modern research laboratories, including the Molecular Biology and Advanced Microscopy labs, as well as clinical units like the Daycare Clinical Unit.

Additionally, the delegation visited the Center of Excellence in Learning and Teaching, receiving a detailed presentation from Director Raed Al-Taher on the digitalization of educational content, reflecting the university’s commitment to keeping pace with rapid technological developments in higher education.

The Syrian delegation included Deputy Minister for Educational Affairs Abdel Hamid Al-Khaled, Deputy Minister for Administrative and Hospital Affairs Abeer Qudsi, Chargé d’Affaires of the Syrian Embassy in Jordan Ihsan Al-Rumman, Director of Cultural Relations Numeir Issa, Chairman of the National Authority for Quality and Accreditation Omar Hamadeh, and Director of Communication and Executive Support Khaled Abdullah.
