US embassy provides JD297,000 grant to support National Water Carrier Project

Amman, April 12 (Petra) –Ministry of Water and Irrigation on Sunday signed a grant agreement with the Water Efficiency and Conservation (WEC) activity, funded by the US Embassy in Amman, to support "institutionalizing" of the ministry's National Conveyor Project Management Unit (NCPMU).

This grant will enhance the unit's readiness and support its administrative, operational, and coordination tasks in the coming phase.

According to a ministry statement, the grant will facilitate transfer of expertise and knowledge to the project's staff through experts working within the project.

This effort will contribute to strengthening partnership between the public and private sectors and support implement the project's objectives aimed at enhancing water security.

The ministry indicated that the grant is valued at approximately JD297,000 and its implementation period extends until April 30, 2027.

Under the agreement, goods, services, and support human resources will be secured, which would contribute to developing operational procedures, enhancing coordination, monitoring, and follow-up, and increasing the unit's efficiency in fulfilling its tasks related to the project.

The grant comes as part of the cooperation between the Ministry of Water and the WEC activity, in line with the ministry's efforts to support the project's "readiness," a strategic enterprise, aimed at enhancing water security in the Kingdom.

This support is expected to enable the NCPMU to perform its tasks "more efficiently and adequately", particularly in the areas of institutional coordination, operational monitoring, and support for the administrative and technical procedures, aimed to ensure "successful" completion of the project's readiness activities.
